Great weekend!

Well this weekend was supposed to be a great relaxing weekend. After the rush of Thanksgiving, I wanted to just relax and do what I wanted to do. On weekends, I rarely get to do that because of all of the things we have to do. Normally I work every 3rd weekend, so planning things on the weekend have to be fit between the weekends I work.
Anyways, Thanksgiving had us busy and running back and forth between Granite and Girard, so the weekend was a great welcome. Friday was just a relaxing day. We didn't do much at all. Joey didn't sleep well the night before so Marc didn't go hunting that morning. We just watched movies and played with the kids most of the day. At 4, we took the twins to get their first haircut! They were pretty good considering how old they are.

Saturday morning, Mom and I went on a little girls weekend. We drove about 2 hrs to Arcola, IL. We stopped in a little town and had breakfast at a little hole in the wall diner. We drove and found our hotel first then went exploring. We finally found the shops we were looking for and had a good time just browsing and spending time with each other, minus kids. We got some fabric for crafts that we were working on and some little souvenirs to commemorate our trip. We had lunch at an Amish restaurant (we weren't impressed though) and shopped some antique stores after that. We found some great antique quilt pieces that need to be put together in a quilt. We just had a blast.

We went to Walmart and then back to our hotel room and relaxed. We watched tv while quilting and working on scarves. Went to sleep and got to sleep in the next morning! No kiddies waking us up (well more specifically me.) We then got breakfast in the lobby and went to the outlet mall. We walked around and only went into a store if we wanted to. Not because someone else wanted to. We didn't buy much, but got a dress for Marc's Christmas party and one for mom for Christmas.

I came back home and got things ready for Monday. Overall, it went fast, but had a great weekend.

Busy week, good weekend

This past week has been pretty busy. Last Monday I had a conference for work and that was all day. I got done and picked Marc up from work and then picked the boys up. We headed back home and packed up for the week. We left home on Tuesday morning and didn't go back home until Sunday afternoon! Whew! Packing for 5 people for almost a week is tough, trying to anticipate what we will all need for the next few days is a lot of work!

We got everything packed up and out the door on Tuesday morning. We dropped the motor home off at mom and dads and then continued on our daily routine. Marc came and picked me up from work and we went back to mom and dads. We stayed there Tuesday and Wednesday night. Wednesday, we didn't do much at the house. The boys and I just played. Wednesday night, we went to Sams, without Johnathan. Poor guy wasn't feeling well and was running a temperature. We picked up some more formula and some food for out trip.

Thursday I had to take Marc to work so I could have the van to go pick my quilt blocks up from Uncle Scott (he works not too far from where mom and dad live.) I tried to work on it, but the boys didn't nap at the same time, so I couldn't get anything done. I packed up the van and primarily got everything ready to leave for when I got back with Marc from work. Marc left not too long after he got back and Mom and the boys and I came a little bit later.

Friday morning was an early morning. Marc, Dad, Jesse, and I went hunting and left the boys with Mom. Dad and Jesse got deer (3 total) and Marc shot at one three times and missed. In the midst of shooting, he didn't hold my gun correctly and the scope came back and hit him in the head. It started bleeding and he should have gotten stitches or have gotten it glued back together. But he is a man and he doesn't need things like that done to him. We came out of the woods and I cleaned the deer so they could take them to the processor. The rest of the day I spent inside with mom and the boys, while Marc went hunting again. After they were back in, mom and the twins and I went to Rosmary's for a 31 bag party. We had fun and stayed longer than expected. There weren't a lot of people there, so we sort of felt like we had to stay for a while. I ordered a lunch bag hoping that it will encourage me to bring my lunch to work more often!

Saturday, we all went hunting again. Marc and I didn't see any, but dad did and he shot it. He asked if we wanted it. Of course! That deer will be most of our food for the next year! We went and got it out of the woods and I cleaned it. Jesse, Joey, and I went and took it to the processing place. We came back, I had a nap, and went out hunting again until dark. Marc hunted someplace different than I did that time. I was tired of hunting with him. I saw a deer after I was getting out of my stand and she ran away before I could try to shoot. Oh well. That night, we went and had Mexican food and met Marc's cousin and his family who live not too far from where we have property. We had a good time seeing them, but the boys were a handful! They were grabbing everything off the table and I was becoming a nervous wreck. Cody, Marc's cousin who is like 11, fell in love with Jonah. He couldn't for the life of him remember what his name was so he called him #2. So cute! He even wanted to take him home with him.

Marc went hunting Sunday morning again in hopes of getting a deer, but he didn't have the patience for it. We ended up leaving around 11 or so and headed back to Girard. We had time to relax and get everything put away before we had to get things ready for the week! It was great to spend time with my family!

Thankful on a Sunday...Again

I have a good excuse on why I didn't post this on Thursday, but I will explain that in the next post. I have had a lot to think about lately. Things have just seemed to be darker lately. I don't know why, but I can't put my finger on it. We went hunting this weekend, like we do every year and I just did a lot of thinking while I was out in the tree stand by myself. Here are a few things that I thought of while I was thinking about what I was thankful for. (sorry that was wordy. I am tired.)





14. The 40 acres that we have to hunt on.

15. The deer that God has put on that 40 acres to help sustain us for the next year.

16. For my dad giving us a deer to call our own to make sure that his daughter and her family have food.

17. For the trailer that my grandmother left us when she died. We stay in that and it is a reminder that she is still around us.

18. For the memories of my lovely grandmother and how we can joke about her and her wonderful idiosyncrasy's.

19. The beautiful sunrise and sunset. It is different to be able to see both in one day from the same location.

20. For the annoying squirrels. Even though they got my hopes up that there was a deer behind my stand, there is a purpose for them (even though I haven't figured that one out yet.)

The boys are 10 Months!

Which in turn means that I haven't killed myself or anyone else in the last 10 months! I heard it once from a mom of multiples that the first year is the hardest and it gets easier after that. Well for my sanity sake and for the sake of my family, I hope this is the truth. They turned 10 months on Friday. Last week I took them to the doctor for their 9 month check up. Here are their stats!
Johnathan- 20lb and 10.5oz (50%), 28 inches (50%), and head circumfrence is 18.25 in (75%)
Jonah- 20lb and 9.5oz (50%), 28.5 in (50%), and head cirfumfrence is 18in (50%)
This means that I have some big babies! The percentiles are based on their actual age, not their adjusted age. They are doing great! They got their 9 month shots and also their last flu shot. I was hoping that since they were sick the week before, that they could still get their shots.

They are amazing me every day with what they can do. They are so silly too! When you blink your eyes at them, they bat theirs back and smile really big. They are making faces just to see your reaction. They are both army crawling really well and Jonah is doing well at crawling on his hands and knees. Johnathan is doing it sometimes, but not that often.
They love food. They would rather have solid foods (table foods) more than their baby food or a bottle. They like mustaccoli (we grind it up in the food processor) and will eat their weight in it (well they actually ate more than Joey when we had it) They like to get into Joey's toys, which he hates by the way. They are just so full of personality. Theyare standing up when I hold their hands and they will stay that way for a few minutes. Both of them have pulled up once on the toy box. Wow I can't believe they can do that already!
They are sleeping better, but not perfect yet. We can lay all 3 boys down in the evening and they will go to sleep with no problem, but for the most part, each of the little guys will wake up once a night for a bottle. I am scared to let them fuss for a while because I am afraid that they will wake the others up. I don't know exactly what I am going to do.
We got their pictures taken last weekend and they are so cute! I hope I can upload them sometime soon!

Thankful on a .....Sunday

Ok so I have been a bit lately with a lot of things. I didn' t post on Thursday because I didn't really have access to a computer. Friday, I worked part of the day and then went home and spent the evening with Marc and the boys (well a little bit of it with the boys) and then worked on one of the quilts for a girl at work's babies. And then yesterday, Saturday, I spent it with the kids, Marc, and Marc's sister. We did a little bit of shopping, not too much damage, but it was nice not to be stuck in the house by myself with the kids.

Things that I am thankful for this week are:

9. For the time that I get to spend with my family- This doesn't happen too much and when I don't, I miss them a lot.

10. For God's gift of being creative- As I said earlier, I have been working on quilts for a friend at work who is having twins. I showed her the one I have done and she loves it!!

11. For my son's smiles! All 3 of them! Everyone always comments on how happy the boys are and for the most part, I agree. I love to see them so happy!

12. For a roof over my family's head- Since we are living with my husbands parents, it is all the more evident that I should be thankful for having a house to be able to get dirty and to be able to have to pick up. Silly sounding, but true. Some don't have a house. Even if it's not mine that we live in, it's still a house.

13. For the way that my mom loves my kids-She does anything and everything for them. I don't know what I would do without her. She drops everything she is doing if they need something.

Just sayin'

It's an omen. I was in the computer room (where my sewing machine is) and I was doing great with sewing the quilt top together. There was some crazy great music on Pandora. I was knocking it out! Then my husband comes in. Crappy music came on, then the speaker accidentally came unplugged. Then he starts playing a game on facebook. He is getting upset. Ruining my groove. Blah!!! He is ruining my sewing experience.
Then he leaves. Great Great song comes on! My seams suddenly match up when they haven't the last 4 times that I tried to pin it together. Must be that he shouldn't be around when I sew.

Asking for help

Why is asking for help such a hard thing to do? I HATE it. I loathe it. I would rather stretch myself thin and make myself crazy before I would ask anyone for help. The person I would ask first would have to be my mom. She is so giving and so helpful when I need it.

Is it bad that I said my mom before my husband? We have trouble communicating. We don't talk to each other and when things arise, it gets even more heated because we haven't talked about it at all! So with the arguments we have gotten in because of the lack of communication, I choose not to ask him for help. I know that I need to work on this. It seems to me that he doesn't really care about most things that I have to say anyways, so why waste my breath.

Anyways, back to asking for help, I just don't do it. When I was pregnant with the twins, I had to accept it because if I didn't, it might hurt the babies, or myself. I had to have people help me watch Joey frequently because I had doctors appointments, or because I was in the hospital. The week that I had the twins was so ridiculous when it came to asking for help. I had to have someone watching Joey at all times because I couldn't do it. My parents watched him the Sunday that I went into the hospital. They took him to the sitters house like normal on Monday. I called them on Monday night and said that they were going to induce me so they took him back to the sitters and he stayed the night there and the rest of the day on Tuesday. The sitter brought him up to the hospital on Tuesday night after I had the boys around noon that day. My sister in law took him home that night (since she was there visiting the babies) and kept him on Wednesday and Thursday (her and my in laws kept them) and then they brought him back on Thursday when I got home from the hospital. They were all happy to keep him, but he is my responsibility to take care of and it was hard to let someone else do it.

I never really took help once I came home from the hospital with the boys. Aside from Marc and the occasional times I went to my parents house, I kept the boys all by myself, pretty much exclusively for the first 2 months (until I went back to work.) Not hardly getting out of the house by myself, made for a bad emotional state. I was frustrated. The kids got on my ever last nerve. This lead to some pretty severe Post Pardum Depression. And going back to that asking for help thing, this didn't help. I was overwhelmed, depressed, and just plain out of my mind and I didn't ask for help. I finally went and saw and Endocrinologist and she pretty much said I was fat and depressed. I saw my regular doctor and he prescribed me some medication. And after 2 months on it, I don't think its working. Crap, now I have to ask for help again from my doctor to find a medicine that works. I don't like feeling like this!
