One year ago...

What a difference one year makes. Last year on fathers day we found out about a wonderful present. Or should I say Presents. I was at work and Marc went up to his parents house to see his dad for father's day. I had woken up at 445 that morning with a pain in my side and just didn't worry too much about it. The pain didn't get any better throughout the morning and into the afternoon. I ended up calling my doctor and she told me to go into the ER to have an ultrasound to check everything out. I knew that I was pregnant, so they were thinking that it might have been a tubal (ectopic) pregnancy. I was petrified. I cried all the way to the hospital. I was talking to Marc and explaining to him what was going on.
My mom met me over there (thank God!) and we waited a bit for them to be able to get me back for an ultrasound. I finally got back there and my bladder was about to explode! They did the ultrasound and said that they could see a small cyst on my left ovary and that should be the cause of my pain.

The ultrasound tech then asked me if I had twins in my family. (I didn't think anything about it. the monitor was turned away from me.) I looked over at mom and was answering her and saying that yes, my mom was a twin. As soon as I turned back around, I saw it on the screen. Or should I say, I saw them on the screen. Two perfect little sacs. Two perfect little babies. I never knew that one moment could change your life so fast that your head is spinning.

I then called Marc because he was worried about me. I told him Happy Father's Day and he was insisting that I tell him how the baby looked. I told him that everything was good, everything was in the right place, and that the babies looked good. He said, "Whew! Wait did you just say BABIES?" I told him yes that we were having twins! He was excited and he said I had to tell his mom because she wouldn't believe him. Well what a difference a year makes. We have three wonderful boys instead of just having one. I wouldn't trade the boys for all the money in the world!

So upset!

Wow so this has to be one of the most depressing nights I have had in a long time. I came home from work and headed to my parents house to see my dad for fathers day. I got there and all of the boys were asleep. Ok no big deal. I was sort of upset because I hadn't seen them since Friday night. I got over it and gave dad his present from the boys. He said it was cute. (we made him a shirt with the boys handprints on it and it said papas helping hands) I was eating the Chinese food that Marc had gotten for dinner. He decided that Joey needed his shoes off since he fell asleep with only his shoes on and only a diaper. Joey woke up so cranky. He was hitting me and was only wanting nana or papa. He hadn't seen me for 48 hrs and didn't want anything to do with me. It makes me feel like a horrible mom. He wants nana more than me. That right there makes me want to quit my job and stay home with them all the time. I just want to cry and to top it all off, Marc and mom had already set it up that Joey would stay at moms tonight so I didn't have to take him there in the morning. He will still be asleep when I drop thr twins off in the morning and who knows if he will be up when I get home from work tomorrow night.
Oh well and to top it off, I didn't get a paper today. It had some good diaper coupons in it too. Booo! (sorry if this is formatted weird. I type it all out as a text message to post!

Work Frustration

I normally don't try to vent or talk about work outside of work, but since I am still at work, I think its ok. Sorry this will be a vent of sorts.
Ugh! I am so tired of people being so lazy! There is one person perticullary. Yesterday, there was a patient whose parent left and she was crying in her room. One of the PCA's brought her out to the nurses station so that she wasn't alone in her room crying. It wasn't a big deal until the baby started crying. I picked her up and held her for a bit and I had to do something, so I went ahead and put her back down. She started screaming so someone else picked her up. She had to go do something and gave her back to me. I really didn't want to hold her anymore because I was off and on busy, but I took her anyways. I held her for a bit longer and then tried to put her back down again. She screamed! I understand that the patient is little and scared, but in my job description, it doesn't say "babysitter." I don't mind helping, but I was tired of HAVING to hold her. And to top it all off, her nurse was sitting at the nurses station playhing ONLINE! UGH! If you want your patient to sit out here, take care of them, don't pawn them off on someone else. I even went in and put the patient in her crib and changed her diaper. She was tired and she went right to bed. Seems to me that I should be getting paid more to do this!
And today, she was being lazy again. Most of the staff were not busy, so we were picking up the nurses station. Cleaning up old cups, picking up scrap papers, just making things look nice for the night shift. She was sitting on her rump doing nothing except surfing the internet for ideas on her SIL's wedding which she is nonstop complaining about. I'm already tired of hearing about it and its about a year away! She asks if anyone else is so bored and tired that they are falling asleep! What in the world??!?! Get up off your butt and help clean up and you wouldn't be so tired!
Sorry that was a rant. I feel better now. Have a nice day ;)

Happy Father's Day!

Well I thought I would take a minute to wish everyone a Happy Father's Day. Especially my husband and my dad. My husband is a great dad to the boys. He is very good with them and loves them so much. He is more of a hands on dad than I thought he would be. He loves to play with the boys and loves to teach them new things. With Joey, he loves to show Joey things that he hasn't seen before!
My dad is a great man as well. When I was younger, I don't remember him being around a whole lot. Obviously, he was gone providing for his family, but he wasn't involved much in the child rearing that went on in our house. I wasn't very close to him at all. A few years back, Dad had back surgery and we tried for someone to be there all the time. Mom was there from the time she got done with work until she had to go home to sleep and I was there from about 9am until I had to leave for work at 215. We got close then. Even though we didn't really talk while I was there, it was a great bonding time. When I had Joey, things changed too. To him, I was an adult and I had given him the gift of his first grandchild. When I was having trouble breastfeeding, he asked my mom a million questions on why I was having problems and what could be done to help. He didn't directly tell me he supported me, but through my mom, I knew he did. It made me feel like I was very important.
He is a great dad to Marc in my opinion. I don't see Marc's dad showing him how to do things. My dad takes the time to do it. He shows him, but makes him do it. There is a real bond there, even though neither of them would admit it!
Anyways, again, I just want to say Happy Father's Day to everyone!

How do you know?

How do you know that you make the right decisions when raising your kids? I thought about this today when I was driving home from work. Did I miss out on an opportunity to teach Joey something that I won't ever get to teach him? Did I tell him the wrong thing and now he will have it wrong for the rest of his life? I know that it seems like I am taking this too serious, but am I? I see people every day that don't take care of their kids and don't care one way or another what happens to them. It scares me. It freaks me out enough that I go home and kiss my kids extra times just because I can. But what happens when I get frustrated wtih the boys and I lose it? Did I just miss out on an opportunity to make a memory? To make Joey see something that he never has before and to teach him something?
I guess that I have to keep going back to a verse that I heard all the time when I was growing up. "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." This means that you teach your kids the right things and they won't forget them when they are older, more specifically, you teach them about God. I think that this verse can encompase everything that you teach your child.
I believe that there are certain things that you should teach your children. Most of them aren't taught until they are older. Now that Joey is getting older (yeah like approaching 2 is older) I think that I have to start setting pretty good routines for him to follow. He needs to know that before bed, we brush our teeth, get our jammies on, and then get into bed. I need to start praying with him too. If he starts these things now, he will remember them and do them when he gets older. Once he is older, he will be taught how to be a good person and how to treat a lady. He will open the doors for women, he will push in a lady's chair, he will let ladies go first, and so on. I will also teach him that doing things around the house isn't always a womans work. He (and of course his brothers) will learn how to do laundry, dishes, pick up after themselves, and cook. These are things that they will need to learn to make them great men and wonderful husbands. Oh wait! Did I just talk about my 20 month old and 5 month olds being husbands? Yes I did. They need to learn things early so they will always do them.
Its scary to think about my little boys being husbands, but they will be someday. They will have children of their own and will hopefully teach them the things that I have instilled in them.
Some people might disagree with the things that I teach my chidren or the things that I let my children do, but they are my children and I (and Marc) are the only ones that are held accountable to God for what our kids do. We can only teach them the right things. Weather they follow them or not isn't my decision, but I would hope that they would learn from my mistakes. LOL.
I need to start praying that God will show me the opportunities that I have with the boys to bond with them and to teach them the things that are important to me and to them.

Great weeked!

Had a great weekend! On Saturday, the boys and I went and walked the Susan G Komen Race For the Cure! We went with a few people from work. Christy has twins as well and she brought one of her kids and Joey got to ride in her stroller since I went by myself to the walk. (Mom was in Jamaica and Marc had drill that day.) We met the people from work down there and all walked together. It was one of the hottest days so far. They predicted it to be 87 by the time the race started at 9am. I did the race and came home and got the kids fed and Joey and I showered and I put them all down. Once they were asleep, Mommy went to sleep too! They all slept for close to 3 hrs and I slept for 2! I felt a little rested after that. Marc came home that evening and we spent the evening playing with the kids and just hanging out. That night, I went and picked mom and dad up from the airport. Their flight was on time, but their baggage was damaged and the other bag was lost, so it took them a while to get out and on our way home.
Sunday, we went to church and went to mom and dads afterwards. The boys rested and I tried to sneak in a nap while Marc was outside working in the garden. We stayed there most of the day, but we went home in the evening and started to pick the house up and get ready for work the next day! It was so relaxing to just not have to do anything!

MIA (and no its not the singer)

Yes I am a bad blogger and have been MIA for a while. Why is that you ask? It's because I have 3 children who are pretty demanding. I also have been spending alot of time over at my moms house. She has been gone for the last few days to Jamaica. Oh don't I wish that I had the chance to go to Jamaica and get away from it all! Anyways, the boys are being quite a handful lately. The twins are teething and I think that is messing with their sleeping habits. Most of the time, they are each waking up once a night. That doesn't sound like much, but when its two babies at two seperate times, it sucks. I thought it might be them waking each other up, but I have seperated them, and they are still waking up. I hope this stage goes away soon. Mommy is having a hard time dealing with the lack of sleep. They are also refining some of their skills. They are rolling from belly to back more frequently now. The other night, I put them both on their stomach's facing each other. They loved looking at each other. Jonah kept rolling. I would then put him back on his belly, and he would roll again. It was so cute! Johnathan doesn't really seem interested on getting off of his belly, but he has the skills to roll. I have seen it, its just that he prefers to be on his belly.
Joey is developing so much right now. Everything he hears, he repeats. (guess that means we have to start watching everything we say) Its so funny to hear him say big words like baloney he says blownee. He can say his name now too! It comes out more like Doughy, but I still know he is saying Joey. He learned open yesterday. So cute! He will hand me his container of snacks and tell me opey. The words that he says aren't perfect, but its still cute and I still know what he is saying.
