Spring

So I think that spring is here and it might, just might, be sticking around! I love the warm weather, but where is the inbetween this year? It was either cold (like had to have the infant seat covers on the twins' car seats) or hot (them wearing just a onesie and no carseat cover.) This presents a problem though. I don't have hardly any summer clothes for Joey! I know that its not that big of a deal, but when its warm outside, we have to put him in clothes and I have to wash them right away! Once yard sales pick up, I'll be on the hunt for some clothes for him. The twins need some clothes too, but im not as worried about them because they can just wear onesies. They aren't mobile so they don't have to have full on clothes to protect themselves yet. Anyways, as I am looking at the weather for the next 10 days, it seems that this warm weather is disappearing! Its not going to be very warm. (warm meaning 70's-80's) It is going to be in teh 60's and rainy for some of the days. Oh well. In a few weeks I will be wanting it to be cooler again!

TotWraps giveaway

I love the dream diaper, one size, all in one diaper that Tot wraps has. It seems like the perfect diaper! From all of the good things that Monkey Tales has to say about them, I would love to try one. It would work for all 3 of my kids (ranging from 10lb to 25lbs) so that would be a bonus! I hope I win one of these awesome diapers. Another cool thing about them is that the insert is made to agitate out in the washer. I can't tell you what is worse than to have to fish a pee filled insert out of a pocket diaper.

So on the blog, Monkey Tales, she blogged about a giveaway of a free t-shirt or onesie. I looked at her site and she has some CUTE stuff! You can see it here. I would love to make the twins and Joey shirts. I especially liked the Small, Medium, and Large shirts with each boys name!

FuzziBunz giveaway

I haven't ever tried the FuzziBunz diapers, but they sound really cool. It is a cloth diaper that is completely snapable. I think this would be great for Joey because he can peel off velcro (aplix) if he doesn't have pants on. By looking at the blog, Monkey Tales, they show just how great they are. They have elastic that every company should have. It has a place where you are able to adjust it according to the size of the child using it and since you are able to access it, you are able to replace it in a snap! Superior Soapnuts Giveaway

So a few weeks ago, I saw on the Eco Friendly Family board on the bump that someone was asking about a product called Soapnuts and if it was cloth diaper friendly. I don't remember if there ever was an answer, but I do remember that I looked up what Soapnuts was. Soapnuts is a dried fruit from the Ritha tree. It contains Saponin which is what gives the soapnuts the cleaning power that it has. To use them, you just crack open the nut and the soap comes out in the wash. There are a few different (and cool) things that you can do with Soapnuts. You can use it for regular laundry, shampoo, shaving cream, and even window and glass cleaner. Cloth Diapers

So I decided to write a post about cloth diapers. When my friend Stacey told me that she cloth diapered her son, I thought she was nuts. When she told me how much money she saves each month, I looked into it. When I first looked at it, there was so much information about cloth diapers that I was super overwhelmed. There are 4 main types of cloth diapers. Prefolds, Fitteds, pocket diapers, and all in one diapers.

-Prefolds are like the old school diapers that needed diaper pins. Now they have something called a snappi. It works much better than diaper pins and its alot safer for the babies little tushies! They require a waterproof cover to make sure that everyone/everything doesn't get wet. They are a little tricky to put on, but once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take long. These are the majority of what we do with the twins right now at their size. They are cheaper than the latter kinds and they are very versitle of how you can put them on.

-Fitteds look like regular disposable diapers but they aren't waterproof. They are very easy to change. All you have to do is to snap/velcro them on and put a cover on it. The cover is what makes the diaper waterproof and not leak everywhere. These are very popular diapers. I have a few of these for the twins and a few for Joey as well. There are a bunch of kinds of these that are out there. We haven't ventured too far with these yet, but for the most part they are pretty absorbant.

-Pocket diapers are exactly what they say. They are a diaper with a layer of PUL (polyurithane laminate) (the waterproof stuff) and a pocket where the absorbant insert goes. Inserts are a whole different story. They can be made of so many different fabrics, such as microfiber, hemp, bamboo and the list goes on and on. The pocket diaper that we use is the BumGenius One size diaper. It can be snapped down to fit the twins and also be unsnapped to fit Joey. We bought a bunch of these at a seconds sale and that is what we use for the babysiters. They are great. They are close to disposables so they are easy for people who aren't familiar with cloth diapers. I stuff them and have them ready for when teh boys need to be changed.

-All in One Diapers are as they say, all in one. They have everything they need in one diaper. Some of them have an area so that you can stuff more absorbsion in it, but some are as absorbant as they can be. These are great diapers for going out. I love the fact that you do not have to do anything to them, they are already ready and you don't have to carry more than just the diaper. No inserts, no covers, just the diaper. They are normally a sized diaper, so you have to have multiple sizes to last throughout the whole diapering process. They do take a while to dry, so that can be a downside if you are in a time crunch.

Overall, I have had a great experience with cloth diapering. I love the feeling of not having to run to the store to buy disposable diapers all of the time. We still do use them for overnights because we can't find an overnight diaper that Joey doesn't pee through or that doesn't leak. No matter how many times I stuff it, I can't find one that doesn't leave his bed wet and make him wake up because he is wet. If anyone has a suggestion, I will gladly try it!

Time has flown!

I can't believe that it has been so long since I have posted! The boys are soooo big! Things are very hectic around the house and one of the reasons that I haven't posted is because my laptop doesn't have internet connection anymore. The network card has gone out and I haven't gotten a new one yet. Its hard to find the time to do something simple as get online and find a new network card when you have 3 kids! They almost never want to sleep at the same time unless its night time and then I want to be sleeping! Oh well. I love every minute of it. Here is a few things that have been going on in my life!
-The boys are 2 months old now! They turned 2 months last Friday and I can't believe how big they are. They are almost 11 lbs a piece by now. They drink about 4 oz every 3 hrs and sleep pretty well. At night, they eat anywhere from 9-11 and then sleep for 5-6 hrs at a time! It helps to get a little bit longer stretch between feedings. I get a little more rest than I have in the past. They have their own personalities too. Johnathan is very happy. He loves to smile and does so more often than his brother. He is very laid back too. Jonah is more of the squeaky wheel. He normally requires more attention than Johnathan does. Not that its a bad thing, but sometimes I feel that Johnathan doesn't get as much attention because Jonah demands more.
-Joey is getting so big! I can't believe how mature he is getting. He is almost 18 months old now. My baby is on his way to 2! He knows 4 signs-more, eat, drink, and milk. He gets into about everything. The other day I was feeding one of the boys and I looked over and he had climbed up and had his hand in the fish tank splashing the water! He is so mischevious. He loves his Nana, Papa, Nanny, and Pa to death! Everytime we drive anywhere, he asks, "Papa?" Wanting to know if we are going to see his Papa.
-We are cloth diapering on almost a full time basis now. There are a few times that we don't, but for the most part, we do. When we know we are going to be out for a long day or in the car for a long time, we will throw a disposable on them. I just don't want them to leak in the car or out somewhere when we don't have a change of clothes for them. I love doing it though. It makes me happy to put cloth on them. I guess its the knowledge of saving money and helping the environment. I am open to trying different types/brands of cloth diapers too. Any different ones that I can get my hands on, I will try. I guess you could call it an obsession to look for new diapers. There a bunch of sites that sell them and there are also sites that sell "used" ones. I know that some people would say that its gross to use a used cloth diaper on your kids, but who cares? If they are clean, why not. I make sure that they are cleaned well before I put them on my kids. It helps save me money, and it helps the people who are selling them to recoup some of the money that they have spent in the first place.
-I started back to work. Yesterday was my first day back to work. It was a good day too. I have been precepting as a PCA. I guess that I enjoy it becuase I am doing something. When I was secretary before the boys were born, I didn't have much to do. It was getting boring and I was starting to resent my job. I need something that keeps my mind working. If I don't have something to focus on, I get agitated and nervous. It was hard to leave the boys, but i know they are in good hands with Ashley.

I will try to post some pictures later, but I can't promise anything. I really don't get alot of ME time so I will really try! I have a few things that I would love to do around the house and those come before posting a blog. I do love my blog though because it helps me get things out in the open. I have very few places that I can vent about certain things in my life. Some people are judgemental and when I write my blog, I write it for myself, not anyone else. Don't try to be who you think people want you to be, be who you want you to be!
